Nagabandham - The Secret Treasure is one of the most ambitious mythological fantasy movies of 2026 that mixes Indian heritage with modern cinematic spectacle. Directed by Abhishek Nama, the movie spans the time from 1756 to present day and combines the legends of mystical Nagabandham with the sacred Brahma Kamalam flower that is at the centre of Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple.

At the core of it is the archaeologist Prabhakar played by Jagapathi Babu who spends decades trying to find the treasure, but fails. His disciples continue the search and confront Ali played by Rishabh Sawhney who tries to take advantage of such mystical power for his own benefit. This ends up in Rudra, a villager played by Virat Karna whose fate is connected to the treasure search. Nabha Natesh as Parvathi adds emotional depth, grounding the fantasy with human connections.
Virat Karna is the film’s most convincing lead actor and Nabha Natesh is a good lead with charm and sensitivity in this film’s performance. Rishabh Sawhney is the antagonist to watch out for and keeps a bad boy with his angry and menacing presence. Jagapathi Babu and Garuda Ram contribute to the mythological drama and the whole ensemble has a great impact on the mythology which makes the film a very good one. Nagabandham is visually a spectacle.
With a budget of ₹100 crore in all, Nagabandham has a huge set and world-building in mind and excellent VFX. The interval and climax action scenes are particularly big and integrate into the mythological narrative as well. Abhishek Nama’s direction ensures that the grandeur of the story is matched by
The screenplay sometimes veers into superfluous subplots that make the pace of the story drag down. Emotional relationships between characters are often not very strong, and the over-reliance on spectacle can be overwhelming to storytelling. These are the basic flaws of the movie that keep it from being perfect, but they don’t detract from the overall effectiveness.
In the end Nagabandham - The Secret Treasure is a visually beautiful mythological fantasy adventure that is ambitious and large and has that high level of scale and has really good performances, beautiful visual effects and an engaging fantasy and history-rich world to it and is one of the most significant pan-India movies of 2026. The screenplay could have been tighter yet the film’s grandeur, by and large, makes it worth watching for fans of mythological and fantasy cinema.
