Akhil Akkineni’s latest Telugu movie, LENIN, has received mixed reactions from the audience and early reviewers. The film gets some compliments for its better second half and Akhil’s performance, but it’s not memorable in the cinemas as its boring plot and predictable screenplay keep it from being special.

LENIN is set in a familiar rural setting and follows a traditional narrative that many moviegoers might have experienced. The first half features the main characters and the conflict, but largely relies on tried-and-tested commercial elements. The romantic track doesn’t really make a strong emotional connection, and several characters aren’t enough to make a lasting impression on viewers, according to early reports.

However, the movie does generate interest just before the interval. A good pre-interval twist was cited as one of the strongest moments in the movie, and it raised the tone for the second half and gave hope that the story would pick up momentum.

Akhil Akkineni has been praised for his passionate work throughout the film. While the screenplay doesn’t give his character enough depth in the first half of this movie, the actor is doing something with conviction and energy. His emotional scenes in the latter half have been particularly appreciated, and viewers have seen a real improvement as the film goes on.

Sivaji is a veteran actor with very few minutes of screen time in which he makes an impact, and has been said to be an interesting actor in his part, and to have a great performance. A good performance from him is the most important part of the movie. The actor Pramod Panju also does a good job of narrating, and he keeps the story going in the crucial portions of the second half.

Thaman S’s background score is a technical strength. The music composer has elevated several key scenes with an effective score and emotionally charged action blocks. The soundtrack might not completely change the movie, but the background music does enhance the film experience.

The second half is generally stronger than the first. The antagonist’s motives and the conflict with the hero are developed more in the film, so the pacing is better, and the engagement is better. This transition allows the film to recover from its slow start and doesn’t end badly.

Despite such improvements, early reactions indicate that LENIN is still an average commercial entertainer. The staid script, predictable storytelling, and the lack of new ideas keep the movie from affecting the audience in a great way. At the end of the film, it becomes more engaging, but it still doesn't quite come close to delivering a memorable movie experience.

For Akhil Akkineni, LENIN is the beginning of his development as a performer, and his strong performance is so visible in the most emotional moments from the film as well. And his passion and screen presence are likely to be recognized even if the movie doesn’t fully take advantage of him.

LENIN seems to be a one-time watch for those who like rural action dramas. Stronger performances, a better second half, and Thaman’s impactful background score are the film’s biggest positives, while routine writing and predictable execution keep it from standing out in the crowded Telugu cinema landscape.
