Superstar Allu Arjun appeared virtually before the Nampally court in Hyderabad on Monday in connection with the tragic event at the premiere of his blockbuster film Pushpa 2: The Rule. A woman was killed in a stampede in the Sandhya Theatre in December 2024 when huge crowds packed to see the film’s first screening.

The court had earlier summoned the actor to mark his presence in the matter. On June 22, Allu Arjun had already appeared virtually before the court and accepted the summons. The latest appearance on July 7 reaffirmed his cooperation with the ongoing proceedings. Now the court has adjourned the hearing and posted the matter to July 29 with a few days more for both sides to make arguments.

The incident in question was shocking to many of the fans, and to the film industry. Pushpa 2’s premiere was so full of people that the crowd erupted outside the theatre and stampeded in. A woman lost her life and many others were injured. It has since received significant attention and raised questions about crowd management and safety measures in such high-profile movie events.

Raaka star and known for his role in Arya, Allu Arjun has spoken to the victim’s family. Virtual appearances before the court indicate his willingness to be involved in the legal process while still working.

As far as we’re concerned it is a case of a legal fight and the Nampally court’s decision that the matter has to be postponed to July 29. Legal experts believe this case is a watershed in the field of accountability for big-ticket entertainment events, and how to put safety measures in place for fans to attend premiere presentations and promotional events.

Pushpa 2: The Rule is a box office juggernaut and Allu Arjun is still one of the biggest stars in India. But the stampede case is a sad reminder of the responsibilities that come with such popularity. The outcome of the hearing later this month will be watched closely by fans, the film industry, and legal experts.

Allu Arjun’s virtual presence before the Nampally court shows that the stampede case over Pushpa 2 is serious. The next hearing is on July 29 and so, this still remains a matter of safety and accountability in the entertainment industry.
