A former Bigg Boss Kannada contestant and numerologist Aryavardhan Guruji has been in serious legal trouble for comments he made on Goddess Lakshmi and women in a YouTube interview. It triggered a lot of fury on social media and a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at Shankarpuram Police Station. The investigation is also likely to result in his arrest.

Aryavardhan Guruji, known for his numerology predictions and outspoken personality, has been criticized by some people in religious groups and women’s organizations who say that his comments are offensive and derogatory.

Guruji's comments were interpreted as derogatory towards Mahalakshmi, one of Hinduism's most revered deities, and women as well. It started when a video of the private YouTube interview went viral across social media.

Guruji said that Goddess Lakshmi resides in a specific part of the human body and suggested that the body should be worshipped, the complaint said. The remarks were widely condemned as they breached religious tenets and demeaned women’s honor.

Suman Kumar, associated with Karnataka Govu Rakshakara Sene, filed a formal complaint at Shankarpuram Police Station. He said Aryavardhan Guruji has hurt religious sentiments and insulted women in his complaint, and it has caused a social disturbance. He asked the police to take strong legal action against the numerologist.

The police registered the complaint as LPT (Lost Property/Preliminary Report) under Station Number 74/2026 and sought legal opinion from senior officers and legal experts because of the sensitivity of the allegations. Authorities also collected and examined the viral video clips circulating on social media to check the authenticity of the statements.

After having a preliminary investigation and legal review, the police concluded that the contents of the video warranted criminal proceedings. Based on the available evidence, an FIR was officially registered against Aryavardhan Guruji under relevant provisions of the law.

The FIR alleges that the statements made during the interview were capable of hurting religious sentiments, promoting disharmony, and insulting the modesty and dignity of women. The investigation is ongoing, and the complainant, witnesses, and accused would be interviewed and statements given before any legal action is taken.

The debate has been fueled by the Internet and has been very much divided between those in favor of freedom of expression and those who want to hold the author responsible for statements which they say crossed legal and ethical lines.

Aryavardhan Guruji has yet to give a detailed public response on the FIR to our investigation or to the public. The outcome of this case will depend on the police investigation and the judicial process. But the incident has once again made public statements about religion and the dignity of women more controversial and in the eyes of law as well.
