The upcoming pan-India action drama Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is one of the most ambitious Indian films in production. According to industry reports, the makers have spent nearly ₹100 crore on cast and key crew remunerations alone, underlining the massive scale of the project. While these figures have not been officially confirmed by the production team, they have generated significant buzz within the film industry.

According to reports, Yash gets ₹50 crore from the film for this work, making him the highest paid member of the cast. The actress Kiara Advani gets ₹15 crore, while Nayanthara gets ₹12 crore. Supporting actresses Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth are paid ₹3 crore each, while Huma Qureshi earns ₹2 crore. The rest of the money is going to director Geethu Mohandas and many key technicians involved in the production.

Toxic is set against the backdrop of India’s western coastline in the 1950s and 1960s and Raya is the character of Yash who rises up through the ranks of a large crime gang. The film aims to be a lot more than a gangster drama, as he moves through a dark underworld of power struggles and betrayal, family loyalties and personal conflicts. The story is expected to deal with the emotional effects of ambition and the difficult choices that shape the lives of its characters.

Yash’s film is a real milestone in Yash’s career, as his first movie after KGF: Chapter 2’s huge success. Instead of returning to the larger-than-life Rocky Bhai image, Yash takes on an entirely new character in a completely new film setting. In addition, he is co-producing the film as a co-producer through Monster Mind Creations, giving him a more creative role in making the movie and more creative control over the film than his screen.

Toxic is Geethu Mohandas’ biggest project in filmmaking. Frequently credited for producing critically acclaimed movies (Moothon) and making emotionally complex movies, she is also known for developing emotionally rich characters. In Toxic she takes that storytelling sensibility and applies it to a large-scale pan-India action film aiming to balance the bright and colorful visuals of the movie with the depth of emotions and character development in the characters.

The project has already attracted considerable attention due to its huge cast, high production value and unique period setting. And viewers want to see how Geethu Mohandas blends her character-centric narrative style with the commercial scale that Yash-led blockbuster movies must have.

Although the reported remuneration figures are unofficial, they show the enormous expectations of the film. If true, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is currently among the most expensive Indian productions in terms of talent costs alone. With a powerful cast, an acclaimed director and Yash back after one of Indian cinema’s biggest blockbusters, Toxic is one of the most eagerly awaited pan-India releases in development.
