Mirzapur: The Movie will come out on September 4, 2026 and it is the franchise’s first film from streaming to the big screen. Producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani confirmed the release date and also said that the film will be released in Hindi and Telugu to expand its reach to a pan-Indian audience.

Directed by Gurmmeet Singh with a script by Puneet Krishna, we will get a bit of Mirzapur back, the gritty world of power struggle, revenge and raw intensity. In particular, fans are excited to see Divyenndu Sharma’s Munna back and that’s a nice twist on the story. Pankaj Tripathi’s Kaleen Bhaiya and Ali Fazal’s Guddu Pandit and everyone else from the well-loved Amazon Prime Video series are coming back.
The film also features some new actors as well as new actors and actresses like Ravi Kishan and Jitendra Kumar and I'm sure they will be really involved. So that mix of established stars and newbies sets the stage for a bigger-than-life movie experience.
A teaser will drop tomorrow and fans who have followed Mirzapur’s journey since its OTT debut are excited. Social media is already buzzing and there are already conversations about the way the theatrical adaptation will marry the raw stories with the grandeur of cinema.
But people are not convinced that there will be a big audience for a movie going to theaters. Industry observers question if Mirzapur’s gritty, episodic style can last a full-length feature film when there are big-name movies like Yash’s Toxic. But the producers are confident that the franchise’s devoted fans and its stories are so gripping that box office expansion will come.
In short, Mirzapur: The Movie is a bold experiment and a natural evolution of the franchise. By introducing the world of crime, ambition and betrayal to the big screen the filmmakers aim to deliver a cinematic spectacle that retains the essence of the series but expands its scope. With Munna back and a new cast of characters, September 4 will be a watershed moment for fans of Indian crime dramas.
