Cocktail 2, the much anticipated romantic drama in India has had a good opening weekend and has earned about ₹47.50 crore nett in India and ₹76.25 crore worldwide. The film’s huge success was largely driven by the strong response from young urban youth with Mumbai and Delhi being the most active cities of the country and the visuals and contemporary themes of the film were very popular as they were very much in tune in those cities.
The film has a new approach, based on Homi Adajania’s 2012 film so it carries on that. The soundtrack by Pritam has already made a mark on social media with tracks such as Mashooqa and it’s a new thing for younger viewers.
The daily collections also continued to rise during the weekend. The film earned ₹13.50–14.10 crore on Friday and ₹15.90–16.80 crore on Saturday. In the Sunday numbers were even higher than this and for the first time ever reached ₹16–19 crore, meaning word of mouth was in high gear and there was a lot of repeat viewing. The film was stylish and humanistic and it could keep the momentum in multiplexes, said analysts.
There have been mixed but generally positive reviews on the movie’s visuals, fashion styling and glamorous portrayal of Kriti Sanon (who’s one of her most handsome and glamorous roles). Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna also made for great chemistry and screen presence. But the emotional depth of the film, while some reviews noted that the performances and narrative arcs were lacking when compared to the original, was also not as strong.
Cocktail 2 has already established itself as one of the best openings of 2026 as a result of this criticism. Its appeal to urban youth audience and the song-based, high-energy soundtrack and stylish execution are all things which will keep it ahead in the coming weeks. Trade experts say the film will reach ₹100 crore nett in India as soon as last week if the momentum continues.
