The much-anticipated sequel Sardar 2 has finally been announced and will be released worldwide on September 10, 2026 in line with the Vinayaka Chaturthi weekend to reach family audiences across all languages. After the immense success of the 2022 hit Sardar (that made more than ₹100 crore) actor Karthi is reuniting with director P.S. Mithran for the next chapter of the franchise.

Sardar 2 is so special because it has a very well-crafted story with a couple of sequel and prequel elements woven in. Karthi will be in dual roles to add depth and complexity to the storyline. There is also an ensemble cast with Rajisha Vijayan and Malavika Mohanan in pivotal roles. Veteran actor S.J. Suryah is the antagonist and his performance is promising while Yogi Babu has his signature comedic timing.

Sardar 2 principal photography was completed a few months ago and the film is now in advanced post-production. The film is being edited with great care and sound design and visual effects to ensure that it does live up to the expectations of its predecessor.
