Akshay Kumar’s comedy entertainer Welcome To The Jungle is still performing well at the Indian box office and maintaining a strong hold in its second week. With new releases from new theatrical releases in the pipeline, the film has remained steady, and is now in India net up to ₹128.90 crore after 14 days.
The box office numbers show the film earned ₹2.11 crore on its second Thursday and ended its second week on a good note. Despite a strong opening week, the film was still able to attract audiences with positive word-of-mouth, family appeal, and the long-running Welcome franchise.
The movie had a good weekend growth in its second week. It collected ₹4.95 crore on Friday, followed by ₹7.92 crore on Saturday and the second week peak of ₹10.44 crore on Sunday. As expected, the movie’s weekday collections decreased gradually from this point onwards with ₹2.78 crore on Monday, ₹3.21 crore on Tuesday, ₹2.28 crore on Wednesday, and ₹2.11 crore on Thursday.
These collections helped the film net ₹33.69 crore during the second week, in addition to the impressive ₹95.21 crore earned in the first week which included Thursday preview shows. So, the movie’s total India net collection is now ₹128.90 crore.
The film has benefited from the various movies coming into theatres. Industry observers will be watching how Welcome To The Jungle fares now with the launch of Dhamaal 4, another comedy film targeting a similar audience segment. The clash of two comedy franchises will also have a bearing on box office collections.
Trade analysts say if the film holds up well over the weekend despite the increased competition, it could still move well to ₹150 crore at the domestic level. The rest of the season will decide the film’s long-term success rate.
As a multi-starrer entertainer, Welcome To The Jungle has an ensemble cast alongside Akshay Kumar and other actors, and it’s a comedy, action, adventure-driven show with a huge ensemble cast and an edge all around. This franchise has been a huge hit for years, and the new one seems to be benefiting from that loyal audience.
And that is why it has been able to maintain a decent box office performance in the last two weeks as new movies have come in.
