Sonali Bendre has spoken to us about her career in several different film industries and her experiences working in different film industries. She said that she really liked Bollywood and the Telugu film industry: “So we made a direct comparison between Bollywood and the Telugu film industry,” she said. She said the Telugu film industry impressed her in terms of professionalism, planning, and the quality of production and production standards and professionalism at work with which to do things better than Hindi movies.

Sonali Bendre said that Telugu film productions in general were well-organized. The actress said the filmmakers would arrive at the set and have very well-planned scenes all together with scripts and detailed scripts and carefully planned it in advance which would make it easier to shoot and more effective.

"The Telugu film industry was much more organized than the Hindi film industry. Their scripts were ready, and the scenes were well planned," she said when reflecting on the differences she observed during her career.

Sonali, on the other hand, said she had sometimes worked with Hindi films where the screenplay was still being written while filming was on. “And this lack of preparation sometimes led to uncertainty during production and was one of the biggest differences between the two industries."

"On Hindi movies, I have worked on Hindi films where they were still writing scenes on the set itself. That was one of the biggest differences," she said.

Sonali also spoke fondly about her experience working in Telugu cinema, particularly of the hospitality she encountered. She remembered the local cuisine during film shoots and the warm working environment she had when she was shooting in the South.

The actress also highlighted the impressive scale of Telugu film productions. “The industry has been spending a lot of money to create high-quality films and high production values to rival or even surpass Hindi movies over the years,” she said.

"Telugu films also have huge budgets. Their budgets and production values can put many Hindi films to shame," Sonali noted, acknowledging the industry’s commitment to visually rich cinematic experiences.

The Telugu film industry is one of India’s strongest regional film industries and has produced some pan-India blockbusters both with critical acclaim and commercially successful. Telugu cinema has become a big deal with huge production scale and extensive planning and advanced filmmaking techniques, and their audience has grown through the years to reach out to people outside regional language barriers.

Sonali Bendre's comments have once again reignited the debate about the changing dynamics of Indian cinema. And even when Bollywood is the most successful, it is the regional industries—especially Telugu cinema—that have come to be recognized for their quality storytelling, technical skills, and disciplined production.

Sonali's observations, having worked on Hindi and Telugu movies, reflect the perspective of a person who has seen the business operation in both industries firsthand. And according to her, professional planning, complete scripts, and strong production values are the most important factors of the entire filmmaking process and have made Telugu cinema very successful in these past years.
