Huma Qureshi is central in Baby Do Die Do, a neo-noir thriller with suspense, dark humour and emotional depth. It was released on July 3, 2026 and has already generated lots of conversation about its aesthetic and bold storytelling. The first half of the film is very original but critics say the second half gets to the same old predictable territory.

Baby Karmarkar, played by Huma Qureshi, is a deaf-mute contract killer traumatized by the memory of her twin sister’s murder. Baby, raised under PM Jain’s tutelage, portrayed by Chunky Pandey, is a very talented killer who is a mastermind in Mumbai’s underworld and uses an umbrella as her favourite weapon of choice to strike. And then she falls in love with Siddhu, the struggling singer, and begins to dream of leaving crime behind. But when the high-profile hit goes wrong, Baby is drawn into the underworld and battles with real estate mafia bosses like Zafar Katkar and corrupt cops like DCP Anjum Khan.

The film is the best performance and the strongest part of a performance. Huma Qureshi delivers a strong performance, and she communicates through her expressions and body language, not words. Her portrayal is the film’s most popular act and one that has been widely hailed. Chunky Pandey is an aggressive mentor whom the audience must not expect to see as a boy and Sikandar Kher is the villain. Seema Pahwa and Rachit Singh give emotional balance and comic relief to the supporting actors and this is the most entertaining of all.

Nachiket Samant creates a stylish neo-noir world with the rain-soaked streets of a pulp fiction world and dark humour. The film employs cool visual tricks like reverse murder sequences, split screen and silent movie gimmicks to heighten the experience. Music by Arjun Iyer adds flair with the excellent Alpha Q and Kaun Hai Woh bringing out the mood and atmosphere.

The critical reception has been favorable. Bollywood Hungama rated the film 3.0/5 based on good shooting and a couple of funny characters. India TV News rated it 3.5/5 and emphasized the unique attempt and umbrella weapon twist of the movie. Times of India awarded it a 3.5/5 as well, noting the taut story and love angle are very good. Outlook India also scored positively with the stylish noir style but had some predictable turns in the second act.

In conclusion, Baby Do Die Do is one of India’s first desi hitwoman thrillers in the world of film made out of Huma Qureshi’s fearless performance. With a bit of familiarity in the second half, the film’s imagination, emotional intensity, and dark humour in addition to its thriller genre are a strong thing. For those looking for something different from typical masala movies, this neo-noir approach is a good ride.
