Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s much anticipated film Alpha opened on July 3, 2026 and its box office has already surpassed expectations. Tracking shows the movie to have an opening of between ₹1.23 crore and ₹1.99 crore gross in India. We see that there is a good chance that this will be even higher on the weekend as more people can book it and there will be promotion at every multiplex.
Alpha had an average occupancy of about 9-10% on Day 1 in multiplexes. This film was played in more than 3,600 shows in nearly 580 cities sold around 51,000 to 80,000 tickets. There were 18-19 housefull shows in major cities, so there are pockets of good audience participation despite a cautious start.
City-wise collections were Mumbai with ₹9.98 lakhs at 11.1% occupancy followed by Delhi with ₹9.46 lakhs at 12.9% occupancy. Bengaluru contributed ₹8.44 lakh, Hyderabad and Pune added ₹5 lakhs and ₹5.8 lakh respectively. Chennai, a smaller market for Hindi films, had 18.3% occupancy with ₹1.45 lakh gross.
Advance bookings for Day 2 have already indicated a sign of progress. ₹2.44 crore gross has been booked in 7,820 shows in 503 cities with over 81,000 tickets sold in advance, which means that the film could see a significant boost in collections during the weekend, especially at evening and night shows.
The film will be closely watched as it is the first female‑centric entry in the YRF Spy Universe. Alpha has an impressive cast– Alia Bhatt and Sharvari are both the stars of the project and are critically and commercially strong. The opening day numbers were poor but positive pre-orders and word of mouth indicates that the movie will be able to gain momentum in the days to come.
Alpha grossed at a figure between ₹1.23 crore and ₹1.99 crore on its first day in India. The start wasn’t high but the advance bookings and audience interest give us a better chance of a bigger weekend. Alpha has set a good box office track by being the first female-led spy thriller in the franchise.
