Alpha, a much anticipated spy thriller from India, is gathering momentum as advance bookings are on the rise just days before it opens. Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh’s deadly agents are playing in the film and it’s earned ₹17.69 lakh gross in Hindi 2D as of Day 1, with over 9,000 tickets purchased across major multiplex chains. And with this initial response there’s growing interest in the seventh YRF Spy Universe movie.
Directed by Shiv Rawail, this 140-minute U/A certified film breaks with the conventions. Alpha has no romantic subplot and no male lead and Alia Bhatt is at the center of everything. Trade experts say that this bold creative move will set the film apart with slick stunts and high‑octane action sequences.
Bookings are particularly strong in corporate circuits for advance booking as large numbers of corporate circuits and solid sales of the film have raised the likelihood of large numbers of pre-bookings in advance and the film’s opening date. Promotions in Jaipur and in other key cities have also stoked the buzz further and Alpha has remained one of the most talked-about releases of the season. The film’s marketing has emphasized its “Alpha attitude,” highlighting the fearless and uncompromising nature of its protagonists.
Music by A.R. Rahman has added another layer of anticipation. Rahman’s score is surely going to deepen the tension and drama of the film, so fans look forward to how his music works with the high‑stakes espionage story. And with a powerful soundtrack and adrenaline-pumping visuals, the film will be that much better.
Trade analysts predict a ₹5–7 crore nett opening on Day 1 and that number could be even higher if walk‑in audiences and weekend momentum continue. And though some critics have observed the story might sound familiar, the movie’s execution, star power, and scale will see a strong box office. Also, the lack of any direct competition in its release window is good for it.
Alpha is a big deal for Yash Raj Films; it’s already getting good advance bookings and has solid promotion and is at the heart of the spy thriller with a very strong start.
